The Center for Child Protection and Family Support,
located in Washington, DC in the heart of Capitol Hill,
was established in 1987 to address child maltreatment,
and the care and preservation of families. The founders
saw a need for fresh approaches and programs that would
address in an integrated fashion these complex and serious
problems facing children, youth and families.
The Center, a 501(c)(3) organization, has become a
nationally recognized leader in innovative family and
children's prevention, intervention and treatment programming.
Since 1987, we have implemented more than 50 major projects,
served more than 5,000 families and child welfare professionals,
and developed numerous public awareness campaigns, research
projects and publications. Co-founder Joyce N. Thomas,
RN, MPH, PNP, FAAN, has been leading the Center since
its inception and currently serves as President and
CEO.
