The Center provides a one-time academic scholarship
to a college student attending a college or university
in Maryland , Northern Virginia or the District of Columbia
in the field of social work.
The
Teresa C. Wilk Memorial Scholarship is in tribute to
the tireless efforts of a professional social worker.
Teresa Wilk was a licensed clinical social worker who
served as the agency's grant writer and community advocate
for children and families from 1993 to 1997. In 1999,
she was diagnosed with a rare form of breast cancer
and passed away in May 2000. Her wisdom, dedication
and talent left a lasting impression on the Center,
and in return a scholarship fund in Teresa's name has
been established. The Center is committed to recognizing
a deserving scholarship recipient who demonstrates community
service to vulnerable populations, especially children,
and leadership qualities and dedication to social work
that Teresa Wilk showed not only during her time at
the Center for Child Protection and Family Support but
in her lifetime.
