History

In 1987, the Center for Child Protection and Family Support was established as a 501 (c) 3 non-profit social service agency in the District of Columbia founded by Joyce N. Thomas and Dr. Carl M. Rogers. Prevention, education and direct services are the key components of the Center’s approach for working with vulnerable children and their families.

In the past (1987 thru 2012), specific programs have focused on therapeutic services for abused and neglected children, youth development, family support services, parent education skills building groups, and professional training.

In 2012, the Center has redesigned program activities to promote greater focus on child safety, victim advocacy, public policies, research, parent education, and violence prevention.
